Yveltal

Stats
HP: 126
Attack: 131
Defense: 95
Special Attack: 131
Special Defense: 98
Speed: 99

Type: Dark / Flying

Description: The mascot of Pokemon Y, sharing the same stats as its Fairy counterpart Xerneas, a simple typing and movepool change sets them worlds apart. Yveltal is nowhere near up to the strength of his counterpart, but that doesn't mean he's a powerful threat. Thanks to Dark STAB Sucker Punch boosted by another 30% Dark Aura, Yveltal has the most powerful priority in the game, outclassing even Extremekiller Arceus. This is about where the fun ends though, as Yveltal has a bland typing. Yveltal's signature move Oblivion Wing isn't as powerful as everyone had hoped it would be, and its movepool is somewhat shallow. It is more than capable of functioning in Ubers however.

Set #1: Life Orb Attacker
Item: Life Orb
Ability: Dark Aura
EVs: 4 HP, 252 Atk, 252 Spe
Nature: Adamant ( + Atk, - SpA )
Moveset:
Sucker Punch
U-Turn
Rock Slide / Fly
Dragon Claw / Dragon Rush

Set Explanation: This set takes advantage of Yveltal's access to several niche moves, such as Sucker Punch and U-Turn. It will absolutely maim anything with Sucker Punch. U-Turn is for predicted switch ins to keep up momentum. Rock Slide is useful for dealing with Pokemon like Ho-Oh, Lugia or anything else weak to Rock type. Fly would give Yveltal some much needed secondary STAB. Yveltal really wishes it were something like Dark / Dragon, or even a combination of Dark and the once rumored "Sound" type that was floating around the internet before the confirmation of the Fairy type. The last slot is for maiming the Dragons that run rampant around Ubers. Dragon Claw is good, but Dragon Rush is way more powerful at the cost of accuracy.

Set #2: Hone Claws
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Dark Aura
EVs: 4 HP, 252 Atk, 252 Spe
Nature: Jolly ( + Spe, - SpA )
Moveset:
Hone Claws
Sucker Punch
Dragon Rush
Rock Slide

Set Explanation: This set is completely straightforward, just set up Hone Claws and attack. Sucker Punch is your designated Priority STAB further boosted by Dark Aura. Dragon Rush is made completely accurate due to Hone Claws and is a powerful move. Rock Slide is also made completely accurate by Hone Claws and will maim anything.

Set #3: Choice Specs
Item: Choice Specs
Ability: Dark Aura
EVs: 4 HP, 252 SpA, 252 Spe
Nature: Timid ( + Spe, - Atk )
Moveset:
Dark Pulse
Focus Blast
Oblivion Wing
Psychic

Set Explanation: This takes advantage of Yveltal's equally high Special Attack. Dark Pulse is your main weapon of choice, maiming anything due to STAB and Dark Aura. Focus Blast gives you near perfect coverage. Oblivion Wing gives you secondary STAB while also recovering HP. Psychic is to nail any Fighting or Poison types that would come in to ruin your day.

Other Options: Yveltal can also run bulky sets with its relatively satisfactory movepool. It has access to moves such as Roost, Disable, Taunt and Torment. However, more often than not Yveltal just isn't bulky enough to withstand the onslaught of multiple Ubers Pokemon. Along with this, Yveltal's typing again really lets it down. It has multiple other attacking moves, notably Phantom Force, Shadow Claw, Shadow Ball and Snarl. Sadly these moves mostly give redundant coverage. Foul Play is another option that Yveltal has which can be used in tandem with a bulky set, however you'll find once again that Dark / Flying typing really lets it down in Ubers.
