Mightyena

Stats
HP: 70
Attack: 90
Defense: 70
Special Attack: 60
Special Defense: 60
Speed: 70

Type: Dark

Description: Despite being the only Hyena Dog in the Pokemon universe, his stats leave a lot to be desired. It's a shame he had to be one of the first Pokemon encountered in Gen 3, as he had a fantastic design. (Should have gotten a Mega Evolution. Dammit Game Freak). Nevertheless he still has several niches that allow him to succeed, notably access to the ability Moxie and a semi-decent physical movepool. What's even more surprising is that Mightyena has a good support movepool.

Set #1: Moxie Scarf
Item: Choice Scarf
Ability: Moxie
EVs: 4 HP, 252 Atk, 252 Spe
Nature: Jolly ( + Spe, - Atk )
Moveset:
Crunch
Ice Fang
Fire Fang
Thunder Fang

Set Explanation: This is Mightyena's best set for offense. Simply send him in to pick off a weakened Pokemon. Your attack will boost up with every kill. STAB Crunch is your best bet most of the time, however the Elemental Fangs provide you with insanely good coverage for those rare situations in which Crunch just won't cut it.

Set #2: Dark Cleric
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP, 4 SpD, 252 Spe
IVs: 0 Atk
Nature: Timid ( + Spe, - Atk )
Moveset:
Foul Play / Super Fang
Heal Bell
Substitute
Counter / Yawn / Roar

Set Explanation: Mightyena's support movepool is just as shocking as it is grand. Foul Play will allow you to maim anything with a high attack, although you could run Super Fang instead to break down walls without any problem. Use Heal Bell to clean up status from your team. Substitute is there to rack up HP. The last moveset is mainly preference. Counter is a nasty surprise for any Pokemon who wants to try and get a free shot in on Mightyena. Yawn is to force switches, although you could go with Roar for a better chance at doing so, but it forgoes Mightyena's slight speed.

Set #3: Quick Feet Howl
Item: Toxic Orb
Ability: Quick Feet
EVs: 4 HP, 252 Atk, 252 Spe
Nature: Adamant ( + Atk, - SpA )
Moveset:
Howl
Crunch
Ice Fang / Fire Fang / Facade
Thunder Fang / Fire Fang / Facade

Set Explanation: Prospect is simple. Use Howl, get a boost. Toxic Orb will activate. You'll be quite fast and have a boosted attack. This set would be better if it had access to Swords Dance but sadly our Hyena friend here doesn't get it. Crunch is for STAB coverage and will be your main attacking move most of the time. The choice between the fangs are yours depending on what coverage you need for your team. Facade is also a good choice because of its 140 Base Power due to Toxic Orb.

Set #4: "It would be a good idea to not try to set up on this one."
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP, 252 Atk, 4 Spe
Nature: Adamant ( + Atk, - Spe )
Moveset:
Snatch / Psych Up
Taunt
Torment
Crunch / Sucker Punch

Set Explanation: This is a somewhat gimmicky set but it can work if need be. You can use Psych Up to copy an enemy's stats, or use Snatch to steal a predicted boost. Taunt and Torment are absolutely horrid moves if you can predict well enough. Crunch is your designated STAB, but you could run Sucker Punch instead if you feel that you won't be fast enough. This is a moveset that requires precise prediction or it will not work. But if you predict correctly, this moveset will save your ass.

Other Options: Mightyena has really no other options. Iron Tail could be used to maim Rocks and Fairies but really has no other use.
