Speed: 40

Type: Bug / Ghost

Description: 1 HP. Wonder Guard. You know the deal when it comes to Shedinja. This generation is giving it a new lease on life however for multiple reasons. The main reason is that permanent weather no longer exists this generation. This means that Shedinja won't be dead weight once Sandstorm rolls around. Along with this, Defog and Rapid Spin are far more common now, meaning that Entry Hazards are being used less than usual. Shedinja also got a new toy to play with in the form of Phantom Force, which is much stronger STAB than Shadow Claw. Along with this, Ghost types hit Steel types normally now. This means that a lot of Pokemon that previously walled Shedinja no longer wall it anymore. Regardless, Shedinja still has weaknesses to Flying, Rock, Ghost, Fire and Dark types so it's not completely impervious. Nevertheless, Shedinja is still far better in Generation 6 than it was in Generation 5.

Set #1: Swords Dance
Item: Focus Sash
Ability: Wonder Guard
EVs: 4 HP, 252 Atk, 252 Spe
Nature: Adamant ( + Atk, - SpA )
Moveset:
Swords Dance
X-Scissor
Phantom Force / Shadow Claw / Shadow Sneak
Sucker Punch

Set Explanation: A pretty standard Swords Dance set. The only difference is that you're immune to most attacks. X-Scissor will be your main STAB move of choice and will nail anything that doesn't resist it hard. Phantom Force is a new STAB addition to Shedinja's movepool and it will severely maim anything that doesn't resist it. You could run Shadow Claw instead if you don't like the two turn attack of Phantom Force. Or you could run Shadow Sneak for STAB Priority. Sucker Punch is there for stronger prediction based priority.

Set #2: Trolldinja
Item: Focus Sash
Ability: Wonder Guard
EVs: 4 HP, 252 Atk, 252 Spe
Nature: Jolly ( + Spe, - SpA )
Moveset:
Will-O-Wisp
Confuse Ray
Phantom Force / Shadow Sneak
Trick

Set Explanation: This set is mostly a gimmick, but it can be annoying. Shedinja has access to Will-O-Wisp, which it can use to maim Physical attackers who come in to take down our little ghost bug ninja. Confuse Ray is for 100% accurate confusion. Phantom Force is for powerful STAB that can stall for more Burn or Confusion time, but Shadow Sneak is also good for priority. The final slot goes to Trick, which can be good for stealing an item from an opponent once your Focus Sash has been used up.

Other Options: Shedinja has a pretty awesome movepool, but doesn't have the stats or options to abuse them. It has access to Baton Pass, and while Swords Dance sounds promising, but Shedinja is too slow to pull it off. You'd be better off just sweeping with Shedinja. It also has access to moves such as Grudge, Agility and Hone Claws, but said moves are either outclassed or Shedinja isn't fast enough. Shedinja Final Gambit is banned to Ubers because it's too 1337. Doing 1 damage and offing your Shedinja is just too rigged for the metagame. Finally, Shedinja has a good special movepool with moves such as Shadow Ball, Bug Buzz and Giga Drain, but it has no Special Attack to abuse said movepool.
