Xerneas

Stats
HP: 126
Attack: 131
Defense: 95
Special Attack: 131
Special Defense: 98
Speed: 99

Type: Fairy

Description: The mascot of Pokemon X, and the first Legendary to be given the new Fairy type. It's, to put it lightly, one of the best Pokemon in Ubers, due to a perfectly adaptable movepool, fantastic offensive and defensive typing, and rather good stats. Xerneas can find itself using a multitude of roles, but often finds itself using its signature move set the most. Geomancy. While Xerneas's speed can be slightly frustrating at times, once you get it set up, you'll find it's nowhere near as easy to defeat as you'd think. Combine an ability that boosts Xerneas's already powerful STAB up another 30%, and you'll find it's no so easy to counter this majestic deer.

Set #1: Power Herb Geomancy Sweeper
Item: Power Herb
Ability: Fairy Aura
EVs: 4 HP, 252 SpA, 252 Spe
Nature: Modest ( + SpA, - Atk )
Moveset:
Geomancy
Moonblast
Focus Blast
Psyshock / Thunderbolt / Ingrain / Grass Knot / Flash Cannon

Set Explanation: The idea of this set is simple, set up and sweep. Geomancy is essentially a Quiver Dance that gives + 2 to SpA, SpD and Spe instead of just one. It requires a charge up turn however, which is what Power Herb is for. Moonblast is the move you'll be using most of the time. + 2 STAB Moonblast + 30% damage boost from Fairy Aura is no laughing matter, and even in Ubers that'll tear through anything that doesn't resist it. Focus Blast is for nailing those Steel types that come in to ruin your day, but really has no other purpose. The last move you'll rarely use, so it's a toss up. Psyshock is useful for dealing with Special Walls such as Chansey and Blissey. Thunderbolt is good for nailing something like Skarmory that resists Moonblast. Ingrain is an interesting option because it gives Xerneas recovery and also prevents it from being forced out from Roar or Whirlwind. Grass Knot has several niches and is somewhat viable due to most Pokemon in Ubers being abnormally heavy. Flash Cannon is the final option and can be used to attack other Fairy types and other Xerneas super effectively.

Set #2: Choice Band
Item: Choice Band
Ability: Fairy Aura
EVs: 4 HP, 252 Atk, 252 Spe
Nature: Adamant ( + Atk, - SpA )
Moveset:
Close Combat
Horn Leech
Megahorn
Night Slash / Outrage / Rock Slide

Set Explanation: This set is always a nasty surprise for the opponent, mainly because Ubers players often prepare for Geomancy Xerneas and never expect a physical variant. Close Combat nails any Steel type switch ins hard. Horn Leech provides a possible OHKO against Kyogre and provides Xerneas with much needed recovery. Megahorn is another powerful move there for coverage. The last move is another toss up. Night Slash is for nailing specific Pokemon, Aegislash and Mega Gengar. Both of which wall this set otherside. Outrage is a nasty surprise for Dragons, although most of the time one would be a fool to leave a Dragon in on a Xerneas in the first place. Rock Slide is solely for the purpose of getting rid of Ho-Oh. Adjust your coverage to what you need.

Set #3: Choice Scarf (Physical)
Item: Choice Scarf
Ability: Fairy Aura
EVs: 4 HP, 252 Atk, 252 Spe
Nature: Jolly ( + Spe, - SpA )
Moveset:
Close Combat
Horn Leech
Megahorn
Night Slash / Outrage / Rock Slide

Set Explanation: Literally the exact same set as Choice Band, except this set focuses on netting that kill with speed rather than power. It's still quite a nasty surprise to Pokemon thinking they can just come in on Xerneas and wall its Geomancy set. Close Combat for Steels, Megahorn for Darks and Psychics, Horn Leech for Waters, and the last slot is up to you.

Set #4: Princess Mononoke
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Fairy Aura
EVs: 252 HP, 4 SpA, 252 Spe
Nature: Timid ( + Spe, - Atk )
Moveset:
Aromatherapy
Psych Up
Moonblast
Thunder Wave / Roar

Set Explanation: This set works as somewhat of an offensive cleric. Xerneas is decently fast with said speed investments, and has enough bulk to steal boosts from other Pokemon using Psych Up. Aromatherapy is for healing your team of status. Moonblast is your standard STAB + Fairy Aura boost move. Thunder Wave is perfect for getting that last, crippling shot in before Xerneas bites it. Alternatively you could use Roar to phase out stalling threats such as the blobs and rack up entry hazard damage.

Set #5: Dual Screens
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Fairy Aura
EVs: 252 HP, 4 SpA, 252 Spe
Nature: Timid ( + Spe, - Atk )
Moveset:
Light Screen
Reflect
Moonblast
Protect

Set Explanation: Another self explanatory set. Simply set up screens, attack with your boosted Moonblast when necessary, and use Protect to scout your opponent. It's one of the more simple sets out there. No other functions other than setting up screens.

Other Options: Choice Specs and Special Based Choice Scarf sets are viable, but are usually outclassed by Geomancy in both cases. It gets access to Hail, Sunny Day and Rain Dance, all of which are practically useless in Ubers due to the existence of Kyogre, Groundon and Abomasnow. Calm Mind is another option, running full investments in HP and Defense, but you'll find that Xerneas's physical buff just isn't enough to naturally tank hits in the powerhouse tier known as Ubers. It also gets access to Gravity but, in my three years of playing Pokemon competitively (and in my near lifetime of playing Pokemon in general), I've never seen that move used.
